When interviewing for any job, you of course want to dress appropriately for the position, but you also want to stay true to who you are.

Know the name of the company as well as the names and job titles of the interviewers.

Know what time the interview starts and how long will it take in order to ensure that it doesn't affect your plans for the day.

Demonstrate an interest in the job by researching the employer, products & services, competitors, etc.

Prepare questions!

Plan to arrive about 10-15 minutes early.

Turn off/silence your cell phone.

Greet the receptionist and other staff you may encounter.

Shake hands firmly, make eye contact, and smile when being introduced to someone.

Maintain good posture by sitting upright with your shoulders back.

Maintain eye contact with the interviewer.

Ask questions! Take notes on important details.

Close the interview by telling the interviewers that you are very interested in the job.

Ask about the next steps in the hiring process.

Write a thank you letter to each interviewer.

Assume you can "wing it" and go to the interview without any prior preparation.

Assume that a job offer/interview means that you will get the job no matter what.

Arrive late.

Dress inappropriately.

Eat, drink, or chew gum during the interview.

Drink alcohol or smoke before the interview.

Inquire about vacations, salaries, bonuses, or other benefits until you have received an offer.

Act desperate or disinterested.

Say anything negative about former colleagues, employers, supervisors, or yourself. 

Answer questions with a simple "yes" or "no".

Fidget or slouch.

Discuss personal issues.

Lie.

Over-answer questions.

Tell jokes.

Ask the interviewer personal questions.

Forget to follow up immediately with thank you notes.
